Recently, I had the experience to visit The Edward Kennedy Ellington School in Queens, NY. I accepted an invitation from Literacy Coach Carlotta Hardy who organized a book talk/signing for authors. I was there to sign copies my book 'Sole Food' and to speak to faculty members and students alike. I quickly found that many of the students of The Ellington School were advanced. Upon my arrival, I was whisked away on a school tour by my 2nd grade tour guides! Afterwards, I had the opportunity to interact with students. They presented questions that were both thought provoking and inspiring. It was heartwarming to discover that there are still public schools where education is still a priority and that there are children who are not in danger of being left behind. As a matter of fact, they're leading the pack.
