What is it like to be a student at Johnson C. Smith University?
I love it! I mean, I am from Maryland and this was my first time ever coming to the South. I was a bit scared coming to Johnson C. Smith as a freshman, I did not know if I would like it or not. Many of my other friends had visited North Carolina for family reunions and said that they did not like it because it was too slow. But to me, North Carolina is simply the opposite. To me, North Carolina is a mixture between a city atmosphere and the country.
The campus of Johnson C. Smith University is great! It's not too big a school like UNCC. I know all of my professors on a first name basis; our small class sizes are good because the professors can take time out to help me when I need it. Also, I love the diversity of Johnson C. Smith. Over the past four years I have met people from all over. People from places like Germany, Japan, St. Thomas, Jamaica and Barbados.
The honors program is great too. As an Advance College Freshman I took classes like Ethics and special topics courses like Women and Literature where the class would discuss different worldly issues that aren't discussed in regular history or social science classes. Now, I have more of an open-mind about different issues than before I came.
I don't know what else to say, I just love it here! I would encourage anyone to come; it's like my home away from home. Coming to Smith has completely changed my life, forever! I will be sad to leave, but now I can call myself a true Smithite!
