Johnson C. Smith University has secured a high ranking in Diverse Issues in Higher Education Magazine 2009 "Top 100 Degree Producers" for African Americans undergraduates majoring in Computer Science and Information Systems.
JCSU ranked 34th among the top degree producers in the nation, according to a study published in a recent edition of Diverse Issues in Higher Education. "We are really excited about the ranking because it shows our commitment to graduating students who have a strong interest in the rapidly growing field of information technology," said JCSU Public Relations Director Benny L. Smith. "We're also proud that JCSU ranked second in the Carolinas for this distinction."
According to the Diverse Issues' website, institutions that are "Top Degree Producers" are ranked according to the total number of degrees awarded to minority students in all disciplines as well as in specific disciplines. Data from the United States Department of Education is used to compile the results.
