Two Lady Golden Bulls receive conference honors
Petersburg, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association selected Rashondae Henderson to the 2009 All-CIAA Softball First Team and Ryan Quirol to the All-Rookie Team during the Spring Sports Championships Program held on the campus of Virginia State University.
Henderson, a sophomore from Houston, TX, played right field for the Lady Golden Bulls this season. She has a .333 batting average with 13 RBIs and runs scored. Henderson stole 13 bases out of 16 attempts; she is ranked eighth in the conference for stolen bases. Henderson was the only non-senior outfielder named to the all-conference first team.
Freshman Ryan Quirol earned all-rookie honors for her play at catcher for JCSU. Quirol (Los Angeles, CA native) scored six runs this season and produced a .314 on base percentage.
Henderson and Quirol are two of several potential returning softball student-athletes. The Lady Golden Bulls only had one senior on the roster. Next season, JCSU will look to improve on their 7-19 overall record and 6-12 conference mark.
