Petersburg, VA - The Golden Bulls Golf Team finished sixth at the 2009 CIAA Championships held April 15th-17th at the Cardinal Golf Club in Fort Lee, VA. JCSU concluded the tournament with a two day score of 727 (Par 72 course, 6,942 yards) shooting 364 on day one and 363 on day two.
Fayetteville State University won the Golf Championship with a two-day score of 583 (+7) to secure their eighth title in the last nine seasons. FSU beat out Virginia State University who finished second with a score of 613 (+37).
For J.C. Smith, senior Andre Kelley finished 17th with 173 strokes for +29 (91/82) and freshman Carleton Beamer shot 174 (+30) for 18th place (86/88). Senior Jamaal Brown was 25th with a +43 score (99/88); and senior Juilan Polk capped off the JCSU top finishers with a +59 (98/105).
Sophomore Antonio Hall was the Golden Bulls fifth player, but did not finish after suffering an allergic reaction from the heavy pollen around the course. Hall shot an 89 on day one, before withdrawing on day two.
