Akbar Majeed joined the JCSU family as a professional counselor. He is a native Charlottean, and he graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelor's in Social Work. He received his Mater degree in Social Work specializing in Social Economic Development from the University of Pennsylvania. Majeed has over 10 years experience in strategic planning, program development, clinical supervision and clinical consultation for community-based nonprofits organizations focusing in urban and disadvantage communities.

He also has co-developed programs such as Concrete2Green and B.A.S.I.Cs (Building Athletic Skills & Intellectual Capacity), which is a holistic program designed to provide academic, social and emotional supports to at-risk youth involved in sports.
