Lady Golden Bulls Finish in the Top 10 at the 2009 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships

San Angelo, TX - The Johnson C. Golden Bulls Competed Amongst the Elite at the 2009 Penn Relays

The JCSU outdoor track and field team began post conference competition this weekend at the Penn Relays at Franklyn Field located on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Sophomore Shermaine Williams was on fire again; competing in her second Penn Relays women 100m hurdles. Williams recorded an exceptionally fast time of 13.06 (PB) to finish second in the Championship of America finals. Last season, Williams placed 13th in a time .50 seconds slower.

JCSU Men's Track and Field Earn Fourth at the 2009 CIAA Outdoor Championship

Petersburg, VA - The JCSU men's outdoor track and field team put forth some solid performances over two day-span at the 2009 CIAA Outdoor Championship held over the weekend at the Trojans Stadium on the campus of Virginia State University. Led by sophomore Championship MVP on the track, Leford Green, and sophomore thrower Julius Wright in the field; the Golden Bulls lifted their performances and positions in CIAA track and field.

Smith University women's outdoor track and field team closed the curtains on the outdoor regular season last weekend at the 2009 CIAA Spring Championships held on the Virginia State University Track. Golden Bulls Place Sixth at the 2009 Golf Championships

Petersburg, VA - The Golden Bulls Golf Team finished sixth at the 2009 CIAA Championships held April 15th-17th at the Cardinal Golf Club in Fort Lee, VA. JCSU concluded the tournament with a two day score of 727 (Par 72 course, 6,942 yards) shooting 364 on day one and 363 on day two.

Cameron Chatman Names 2009 CIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Year

Petersburg, VA - Johnson C. Smith freshman Cameron Chatman was named the 2009 CIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Year by the conference office during the Spring Championships Program held on the campus of Virginia State University. Chatman, a native of High Point, NC, finished the regular season undefeated in conference (13-0), 20-3 overall, and 9-1 in her last 10 matches.

JCSU Men's Tennis Team Takes Third at the CIAA Tennis Championships

The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team finished third at the 2009 CIAA Men's Tennis Championships held April 15th-18th at the VSU Tennis Courts on the campus of Virginia State. Shaw University claimed their fifth consecutive CIAA men's tennis title by winning each of the three doubles and six singles flights for a maximum team score of 54 points.

NCCSIA Announces North Carolina All-State College Division Women's Basketball Teams

The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2008-09 College Division All-State Women's Basketball Team on Monday that included juniors Wendy Stywalt and Demetria Bell. Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams. Teams are selected for men and women in both the college and university (NCAA Division I) divisions.

On Tuesday April 7, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sarah Belk Gambrell Auditorium (Biddle Hall), six young ladies will compete for the title of Miss Johnson C. Smith University 2009-2010 during the annual queen pageant.The current reigning queen, Ms.Tanoia Hill, will crown the newly elected Miss JCSU 2009-2010 during this year's homecoming.
